Our aftercare is committed to rendering a support service to working parent in a safe and child-friendly environment, by taking care of our learners after school and during holidays.
At Mountview we believe that an effective education does not come from memorising or lecturing. For the learners to actively take part in the learning process the benefits are countless. This learning process entails analysing and collaborating – in order to retain and comprehend.
We offer a holiday programme, for our students, on our premises. A qualified teacher and assistant will offer educational lessons to the children each day, making their holiday extra fun.
During the sixties, the rapid expansion of the community in George necessitated the establishment of a permanent nursery school. In January 1962, the new nursery school was opened under the name of George Nursery School with 25 children. The fees were R12 per child, per term, and included the daily provision of milk and fruit. The first teacher was Mrs. Brenda Southey, and her salary was R50 per month.
During 1968, large premises with a house became available at 91 Mitchell Street. It was converted into a school with two classrooms. The name of the school was changed in 1980 from George Nursery School to George Pre-primary School / George Preprimêre Skool. In 1986, plans were drawn up to connect the two new sections, which were situated on either side of the old house. On 28 November 1987, twenty-six years after the establishment of the first school, the newly rebuilt George Pre-primary School was officially opened by Mr. JC Heunis, Minister of Development and Planning.
In 1999, the property in Mispel Lane was purchased and converted into three classrooms to accommodate the 3- to 4-year age groups. The Governing Body decided to buy the property adjacent to 91 Mitchell Street in 2005. It was converted into admin offices and an extra play area for the learners.
George Pre-primary School has always been a school with a vision. We are committed to a holistic approach to attaining quality education in a rapidly changing world.
In 2020, the initiative was taken to expand the school to accommodate Grade 1–3 classes in the future. In 2022, the dream became a reality with the opening of Mountview Primary. Grade 4 and 5 were added in 2024 and 2025 respectively under the Genius Academy umbrella, and Grade 6 is planned for 2027.

This is the 1st year our son is attending Mountview and from the 1st encounter I had with the previous Principal for the viewing, I felt so welcomed and the team are a well knitted family. We see the love, care and just going the extra mile the whole team has towards the children and the parents. Something that is very important to us for choosing a school is the christian values and at Mountview we receive that.Posted on Google Elmi JansenTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. There are teachers who follow a curriculum... and then there are teachers like Teacher Ronel at Mountview Primary — the kind who pour their heart into every child. My daughter is in Grade 2, (Afrikaans) and every day I’m reminded just how incredibly lucky we are. In a small class, where each child is truly known, Teacher Ronel goes beyond just teaching — she loves, nurtures, guides, and protects them like her own. She sees their potential, comforts their worries, celebrates their wins, and holds space for who they are. The care she gives is the kind that sticks with a child for life. From the way she speaks to them, to how she shows up every single day with patience, softness, and strength — she is a gift. We are so grateful for her. She’s not just a teacher. She’s a blessing. 🌸Posted on Google Mari-Louise van RooyenTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Wel dis my ervaaring... If you are looking for small intimate classes for your child, Mountview is the place to go. I am very happy with my childrens progress at Mountview, and I give credit to the fact that the classes are small and teachers aren't overwhelmed with too many kids in one class. They follow STEAM and the kids enjoy every moment of school. Teachers and assistants are great and very loving. I can contact each teacher personally with any concern regarding my kids. The principal plays a big part in most activities and the kids can go freely to visit and show of their work, where the principal personaly rewards them and praise them for a job well done. Even myself can go have a chat with the principal whenever. Like an open door policy. I always feel welcome. My kids speak fondly of their teachers and their principal. They love going to school at Mountview and tells me often they don't want to go to any other school! I am happy to say we've been with Mountview since the beginning and we plan to walk a long and happy road with them.
